Internships

Overview: The Carolina Abortion Fund (CAF) is looking for two highly motivated  interns to support the Director of Engagement in the roll out of CAF’s new community engagement plan and to engage in direct service work through the provision of funding, information, and referrals to callers seeking assistance on CAF’s helpline.
Interns will be hired with one of two focuses: communications and social media and Spanish-language resource development.  

 

Focus 1:Spanish-Language Resource Development - Native speakers prioritized

  • With board and staff, develop CAF’s multilingual media and resources

  • Attend a Helpline Volunteer  training and fulfill at least three shifts on helpline

  • Support with the roll out of other aspects of the community engagement plan as needed

  • Attend a minimum or one CAF or partner organization community event

  • Attend virtual or in-person individuals check-ins weekly and monthly group check-ins with supervisor

 

Focus 2: Communications

  • Maintain CAF’s social media presence across multiple platforms

  • With board and staff, support design of organizational reports

  • Attend a Helpline Volunteer  training and fulfill at least three shifts on helpline

  • Support with the roll out of other aspects of the community engagement plan as needed

  • Attend a minimum or one CAF or partner organization community event

  • Attend virtual or in-person individuals check-ins weekly and monthly group check-ins with supervisor

 

Qualifications:

  • Based in North Carolina and at least 18 years old

  • A commitment to reproductive justice in alignment with CAF’s vision

  • Ability and desire to work with people of diverse identities

  • Able to work independently, self-motivated, and responsive to remote management

  • Attention to detail and eager to learn.

  • Experience in reproductive health, peer counseling, fundraising, and/or community organizing is a plus, but not required.

      Interns will need to have reliable access to internet and phone.

 

HoursMay 22-June 30, 2017; 6 weeks commitment, apx. 10-15hrs/ week for minimum 65 hours

Compensation:$1,000 stipend upon successful completion
