2025: That’s a wrap!

Dearest CAF Community,

We remember the Gala of 2024– where we celebrated the coming change of tide through the Age of Aquarius–and how these tides have taken their turn.

Tremendous power shifts were coming our way and we were going to need to “heave, ho” to secure some sort of a semblance of victory.

You didn’t have to be there to know how true this has come to be....

Looking Back:

From January 1st to December 31st, we attended over 40 events, across 150 counties in our 2 states. We were throwing Plan B at the really, really free markets as often as we were dancing through Pride Parades.

We were teaching community members how to iron on their patches to their Durags at DuragFEST with our siblings at Sistersong and teaching our elders that vaginal condoms aren’t just for the gworls at a Skate Party with Abortion On Our Own Terms.

Joy is Justice remained the highlight of our summer, and this year we conjoined our joy with our community as we brought lessons home every month together hosting For Our Neighborhoods with our partners Pro-Choice NC, Muslim Women For, ACLU NC, El Pueblo and *especially* Thank you to Historic Magnolia House for feeding us that beautiful day.

It felt kismet to be sharing the wisdom of our ancestors on how to survive this movement in a place that has allowed us to survive every moment.

Looking Ahead:

We were formed in 2011 by a diverse group of movement makers, from doctors to clinic defenders, who were determined to see abortion accessible and funded for everyone we could reach.

Nearly 15 years later, we remain committed, or as we say more to our loved ones, “we been on that!” We’ve survived the promise of choice, the illusion of security, and the concepts of a plan to Scale Up in spite of the fall of Roe. It may be a new year, but this is the same us and we are still here; we won’t be going anywhere, especially silently.

We’ve been scheming longer than these bans have been in place because we were built to outlast. Looking ahead, we are setting our sights on a sustainable strategy that circumvents our circumstances. Amidst growing restrictions, we hope to increase our access to education and information that can enhance the autonomy of our loved ones and communities. It will come with risk assessments, getting things wrong, and appreciating the space to learn as it always does.

Thank you for supporting abortion access in 2025!

We are hoping for another year of thorough fellowship that doesn’t wait for the long hug at the protest (of which we truly live for each year). We are putting into action schemes of liberation, access, and resources – as we always do.

With Appreciation,
The Carolina Abortion Fund
