May Day is Here
Bring back the May Pole, this generation has new shoes. We wanna see flowers from the soil of justice when it’s our turn to slide down. Let the ribbons ring around and wrap us in the solidarity of our struggles. Workers are linked by their oppressions, industry to industry, Chicago to Carolina we face an upward battle against capitalism, facism, and imperialism. We have always and will always overcome this through being a community in action. It is up to us to venerate and celebrate the fight of the workers.
Workers provide and continue to be taken from. Reproductive Justice knows that the worker deserves to be able to care for their community and receive care back. Healthcare is a basic birthright that should come with the honor of providing in our lives. Until we are breathless we repeat that this country runs off the unpaid and undervalued labor of its people. Until we are blue in the face, we continue to scream that this country was built with the hands of enslaved and indigenous people. To this day, the work of our incarcerated siblings are still feeding and clothing our nation.
We know our abortion seekers to be workers. We know this means they navigate hurdle after hurdle between work life and joy. We know May Day to mean power, to us, for us, as written by us. That can mean, and should mean, you rest today remembering this country would not move without you no matter how many billions of workers there are today. Without YOU, there would be no us.
