Honoring Trans Day of Visibility

For us: to see trans folks is to see trans folks, hold trans folks close and love trans folks–full stop. 🫂 We went to write about how particularly dark it is in these times, but remembered how bright queer and trans folk shine especially under pressure.

On Trans Visibility Day, we’re thinking of being led to the statehouse by our partners at Equality NC ; of how we sat in community tabling amongst queer and trans elders and youth this weekend for a clothing swap; how we hugged and tipped and took pictures with loved ones at yet another successful drag show booking.

Our piece of holding our siblings in the work is to center access to gender affirming care, protect advocates of our agency like our healthcare providers and uplifting the needs, wants and dreams of the Nonbinary and Trans community. Maybe there’s rarely been a time in history where it's been safe, but may that always be when the loudest music plays, where the sun shines the brightest, and where the laughs come from the deepest pits in your belly.
